WOOHOO! I, Karen Tyrrell, won a sponsorship for an upcoming writing project for the community.
I’ve waited and waited for this news for over a month. I can’t believe I actually did it!
As an award winner author, teacher and speaker, I’m thrilled and proud to be sponsored to create an empowering children’s book. I’m very passionate about the subject matter and how it will support children and families.
What other Grants have I won?
I won three RADF grants.
One for the production of Alzheimer’s picture book, Harry Helps Grandpa Remember. Its endorsed by Alzheimer’s Australia, Arts Queensland and Logan City Council.
Another grant for the editing of my award winning mental health recovery memoir, Me and Her: A Memoir of Madness. Its about me, a bullied teacher and my recovery from bullying and PTSD.
And one to complete Year of the Edit writing course at Queensland Writers Centre to maximize my writing skills.
I shared my experiences and knowledge by presenting seminars on Getting Grants at Logan Art Gallery, Moreton Bay Libraries and Write Links.
What does my Sponsorship mean?
An important organization will proudly sponsor my book with funds and their support to help me share it to the community. So far, I’ve achieved Stage #1 of my goal.
Now, I will take this sponsorship to apply for a grant for the remainder of the production and marketing costs, Stage #2.
Who will benefit from my Project?
Children, families, teachers, migrants, refugees, schools, pre-schools and the community.
What’s your Project about?
It’s much too early to spill the beans. As soon as I receive the grant funds I will share all the details including my team of creative people and all project stakeholders. I promise!
